CPU spikes and fan overworking

Hello,

I just bought a new ASUS laptop yesterday and every time I boot it up, or run Google Chrome, or play video games (Guild Wars 2, League of Legends, Steam games), the CPU goes crazy. Sometimes it spikes when I don’t have anything open. I cannot make it 5 minutes into a League game without it sounding like my computer is literally going to explode and die. The fan gets really loud and hot. Even when I open the Task Manager the CPU spikes between 45% to 70%. Nothing seems to be wrong other than it heating up for no apparent reason. I’m wondering if it isn’t using the right processors/graphics card. I have tried updating the drivers and it says everything is up to date, and I have scanned my laptop with AVG (nothing came up) but that did not seem to help anything. I'm at a loss of what to do. I just want to be able to play games and listen to music without my laptop exploding.

Another thing I am wondering about is why there are multiple of the same task open in Task Manager? For example, when I open League of Legends, there will be 3 of them open in the Task Manager. Same for when I open 1 tab on Google Chrome, it will show like 7 or 8 in the Task Manager. This makes the CPU spike like crazy.

Laptop information below:

OS: Windows 10 Home (64-bit)
Processor: AMD FX-9830P RADEON R7, 12 COMPUTE CORES 4C+8G 3.00 GHz
CPU: AMD Quad Core FX-9830P

This is the laptop I have:

Please let me know if you need more information.

Thanks, Lindsay :)

Update: I will be attempting to reset my laptop back to the state I got it in. Hopefully this helps.

Send it back. Thats the old AMD cpu line and are quite capable of generating heat, as you have noticed, as well as only performing as well as low end dual core intel cpu's. The Mobile Ryzen would be a better choice if you are only interested in AMD.
