Please be serious, i'm not trying to sound spoiled (15)
I just got a surprise gift, my dad "upgraded" my Motorolla G3 (2015) to Huawei Y7 (2017). Yeah new SIM card, old sim card won't work and now my old phone is unusable (country law against robbery)

I checked the specs:

Pros:
1. I have Android Nougat now , which honestly, is just the same as Marshmello.
2. I got 3 more MP on frontal camera (which is rare cause camera quality is horrible)
3. I got the "same" processor but octa core instead of quad core
(is this even relevant for average use? i mean, i mostly use facebook, whataspp and spotify, rarely uber, sometimes photos).

Cons:
1. Huawei has the brand name all over the phone they can't even get enough of it.
2. The UI looks like i downgraded my phone to 2013
3. The phone is bigger yeah, but the screen is smaller so what's the point?
4. Instead of using extra space for a bigger screen they decided to print HUAWEI on it.
5. Small screen: keyboard all squashed, extremely uncomfortable to type.
6. Touch sensitivity on Moto G3 is way smoother
7. My Moto G3 is generally runs smoother, like come on we are comparing a 2017 just out of box brand new phone to my 2015 Motorolla G3 11GB/16GB memory used, how come this new phone be slower?

Veredict:
I got a new phone with an ugly user interface, slower and with smaller screen, without Gorilla Glass 3 protection my previous phone had, and without dual-LED which means ugly photos in the dark. Appart from that it's the same storage, same ram, same resolution, same panel, same everything. Seriously, i hope someone comments here and proves me wrong, i'm extremely sad and dissapointed about this "new" phone. I KNOW it's a low-end phone, but it should atleast feel like an upgrade from my 2015 MOTO G3 which is also low end, and honestly i feel i went back in time. The ONLY good thing i found in this new phone is the 4000mAh battery. I'm sorry i just can't hate this phone enough, thanks for your time.

I'd say the only upgrades are the battery and nougat. Nougat is far better than marshmallow for a few reasons. It has better performance and power efficiency and it has the dual screen feature that used to be only something samsung phones had and I personally like it. As for the UI aside from some baked in stuff you can just get a third party launcher and change that.

Otherwise when it comes to general specs its not better but think of it this way, you get better battery and overall performance and the new features of nougat for the sacrifice of camera. I personally don't deal in the world of super cheap phones though. The cheapest phone I've ever used was the ZTE Zmax Pro and although it was only $100 it had crazy good specs and...

The G3 5 Inch screen 67% Screen Ratio
The Y7 5.5 inch screen 71.1% Screen Ratio

Y7 has slightly more usable screen... slightly
.....................................................................

G3 Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410/Adreno 306
Y7 Qualcomm MSM8940 Snapdragon 435/Adreno 505

Y7 should be slightly faster
....................................................................

G3 16 GB, 2 GB RAM
Y7 16 GB, 2 GB RAM

G3 would be slower if it was a 8GB model
....................................................................

G3 720 x 1280 pixels, 16:9 ratio (~294 ppi density)
Y7 720 x 1280 pixels, 16:9 ratio (~267 ppi density)

G3 will look better
....................................................................

G3 13 MP, f/2.0, autofocus, dual-LED dual-tone flash
Y7 12 MP (f/2.2, 1/2.9", 1.25 µm), phase detection autofocus, LED flash

G3 has a better Camera
.....................................................................

OS

G3 Slightly modified Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop), upgradable to 6.0 (Marshmallow)
Y7 Heavily Modified Android 7.0 (Nougat)

Y7 has more OS features and security patches but at a cost of slowing down and filling RAM faster.
......................................................................
Spec Wise the Y7 should be faster and stay charged longer but the OS I agree is utter crap it used much more RAM in general. Out of the two I would use the G3.. I avoid using or selling low end Huawei they are just as much crap as Blu.

Nono i mean even with a custom launcher the shapes and designs of keyboards and pin-unlock is 2012 level. G3 and Y7 have same screen height, but G3 is fatter so it's screen it's actually bigger. So i just sacrificed my camera, screen size and quality touch sensitivity for Nougat (which i really don't care for) and some battery. I swear i'm getting an iphone next year, feelsbadman

I think saying Y7 is "faster" just because it has some extra cores and slightly better architecture, wouldn't be precise, i imagine it's faster for games i don't play or for some heavy applications i don't use. I would also like to use my G3 again but it's unusable now by country law, thanks for your tip on Huawei.

Iphone.. Avoid the 8 and X if your prone to dropping things. The 8 has Glass on both front and Back the X is just fragile overall that frame isn't even covered under Warrenty $300+. With a iphone get a damn good case that also makes it bulky, avoid 16gb phones they fill up to damn fast.
