I'm not hugely informed on most of the Motherboard features and such, and only know a few basic things. I planned on upgrading my CPU, which I'll need a new Motherboard to do, plus new ram. And I'm stuck on two at the moment, and would love some help, info, and opinions on them, thanks!

Current System,

MotherBoard - AsRock z77 Pro3
CPU - I5-3570k
Ram - Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB DDR3L 1600MHz
GPU - GTX 970me
OS - Windows 10

I planned on getting the i5-8600k(Was going to go for the i5-8400 but it's sold out, and figured putting in another 100 for the overclocking of the i5-8600k would be worth it in the end).

But I know very little of Motherboards other then I need a z370 board. And I really like MSI products so I was stuck between the MSI Z370 GAMING M5, and the MSI Z370 GAMING PRO CARBON and can't really tell which one is better? I'm sure they're very similar, but there has to be some difference that I can't see, does anyone know? And which would you prefer?

Also the MSI Z370 GAMING PRO CARBON comes with a "AC" version, whats that? Is that just the Wifi card with it? Or is it something else? I don't really care about the RGB, just mainly how well it'll run, play games, how long it'll last, etc. Which I'm sure both are about the same with those factors.

And I noticed on MSI's website some of the motherboards some with DVI-I, or Displayports. Is that something I should worry about? I have a GPU so I'm guessing that's something I can just ignore?

Thanks for any and all help, and opinions! I've upgraded a few things over the years, Ram, GPU, PSU(Old one went out), HDD, SSD, and etc but never a CPU, and Motherboard. I've seen lots of videos on it, so I feel I can do it, just need help to find what I want to replace them with!

Thanks again! Ask any questions that might help you answer mine!

ok, as for the video out ports, since you have a video card, you will more than likely not touch those ports, so they doesn't matter, the "AC" version comes with a 80.211AC wireless expansion card which is nifty. as to the difference in performance there wont be any between the two. so what it comes down to is one (MSI Z370 GAMING M5) has "killer Ethernet" and the other (MSI Z370 GAMING PRO CARBON) has intel ethernet (both of which are 1Gb connections, though with the MSI Z370 GAMING PRO CARBON you can get the 802.11AC wireless expansion card which may or may not come in handy. other than that they are pretty much the same board plus or minus a few usb ports here and there. i'd say go with the MSI Z370 GAMING PRO CARBON (with the AC...
