Hi PC Masterminds, I need your help urgently!

So a couple days ago I bought a RAM stick that I thought could expand my laptops memory but for some reason, it doesn't work.

I have a lenovo G4080 with standard 4gb of ram.
I have a Samsung 4gb PC3 12800s 1600mhz 1Rx8
I bought a Hynix 4gb PC3 12800s 1600mhz 2Rx8
Only difference is the brand and the configuration (see _Rx8)

I tried putting them in different configurations but it only boots up when the hynix ram is not in the laptop. So only samsung ram stick works. I can't even boot into BIOS since the screen shows only black.

Please help! Thanks :)

Your laptop supports dual-rank modules. However Kingston compatible 4 GB modules are single rank (https://www.kingstonmemoryshop.co.uk/kingston-kcp3l16ss8-4-4gb-ddr3l-pc3-12800-1600mhz-memory-module-1-35v-cl11-sodimm) and 8 GB modules are dual rank (https://www.kingstonmemoryshop.co.uk/kingston-kvr16ls11-8-8gb-ddr3l-pc3-12800-1600mhz-memory-module-1-35v-cl11-sodimm&filter_name=%20KCP3L16SD8/8). It also is possible the module that you received is defective.
