Computer not turning on

So I was playing Ark, and I could smell a magic marker type smell... figured that it was an additive in my fuel... but about 30 minutes to an hour later PC shut off and would not turn back on. Lights would turn on, and fans would spin a little but would immediately shut off. Wouldn't even make it to post. I have unplugged everything and plugged everything back in one at a time trying to figure out what burned out.

I bought a mobo speaker and plugged it in. I finally got to a point where it would boot up a little, at least to post, it beeped 4 sequential times stayed on for like 3 minutes, and then powered off. The fans all turned on, and my h100i powered on and such. The weird thing is that it only boots this far with the hard drives unplugged. I have 3 ssds in raid 0, but as I said I could only get it to power on that far without them being plugged in.

I have an asrock z97 killer with a 4790k, 980 ti, and 3 ssds in raid 0 runnin windows 10, and 32 gigs of ram.

Can anyone please assist me in figuring out what is wrong with my pc. I have tried really old HDD's but they did the same thing, but they are probably not good.

Solution
Seems to be two separate (yet connected) problems.
First seems to be lying in SSDs - what you described would mean that one of the drives creates short, and when it is connected it causes SCP protection in PSU to kick in and power off. Check each of the drives one by one to find which is shorting. Also you should check separately each SATA data cable, as it could be the cable making short too.
Second problem is in system not running even without SSD. It is quite possible, that shorted drive (or cable) managed to damage motherboard. Considering your tests so far, I would find that option quite possible.

Sound like a bad PSU. Do you happen to have an extra one you could try out?

Is that what the four beeps means? Someone was saying RAM but I had spare laying around and tried it and same thing, just 4 beeps. But again I only get this far without my raid 0 plugged in. I'll try a PSU in a few minutes and get back to you. Anyone else have anything to add?

I tried an EVGA NEX 750B power supply, but it is a 4 and then another 4 up the line, so I used it like a 4+4 for the cpu power, and some odd reason my the fans didn't turn on for my h100i even though everything was plugged in. Anyway the same thing happened, 4 beeps and no POST. I went to my second BIOS, and tried without my Graphics card, plugged my monitor into the mobo graphics card and same thing happened. I don't see any post though on my monitor.

Should I buy a new powersupply, one that is bigger than 750 and with correct cpu power connector? Or do you think it is my cpu or mobo?

Well I tried a new battery and new sata cables and the same thing is happening.

Do you still think it is the PSU? As I said I tried a evga nex 750b that is working in another pc, as well as ram that is working in a different pc. Should I buy a new PSU and try it? I'm thinking of getting a mobo, but there was a long time smell that happened that lasted awhile.

Same smell was the issue in this Reddit thread... it turned out to be the PSU. The evga nex 750b may not be in top shape, or there may be another issue involved... I'd suspect the BIOS.. it may need a reset because BIOS corruption can resemble a bad PSU so before anything else, reset the BIOS and later if necessary restore it... if the issue persists after that, try the EVGA nex again, and if still nothing, try a new PSU.

Option A) Bios reset:
1. Remove AC power or turn off the PSU
2. Remove the battery
3. Move the BIOS jumper to pins 2 & 3
4. Press and hold the power button for 60 seconds
5. Wait 10 minutes
6. Revert 1 through 3 and try the computer

Option B) Bios recovery:
1. Remove AC power or turn off the PSU
2. Remove the battery
3. Remove the BIOS jumper
4. Press and hold the power button for 60 seconds
5. Wait 10 minutes
6. Revert 1 through 3 and try the computer
