I hope you can help this Mom out!
I’ve purchased a pretty awesome gaming computer for my 13 year old son for Christmas. The problem is....when I went to purchase everything I told the salesman I wanted (my son) windows 8.1 not 10. He looked at me like I was crazy. Can anyone explain why my son is so against Windows 10?

DX 12 is a feature that comes with Windows 10, it's a gaming API not available on Windows 8.1. So you will already have it.

He better be happy, that's an expensive rig.

Back when Win 10 was just a Tech Preview, it did log and report a bunch of anon user data back to Microsoft.
Of course, all over the web were reports of MICROSOFT IS SPYING!!!

People still hang onto and report those prerelease issues as gospel.

Upon release and after, that has been dialed back, a LOT. And you can turn it off. And, that same telemetry has been backported into Win 7 and 8.1. So you get no relief there.

Spybot Anti-Beacon is a good tool to turn that OFF.

If you do not mind, can you list what the individual parts of the computer? I just want to make sure you did not get AMD APU or very old AMD CPU as gaming system. Just don't want you regret the purchase if you have info before hand.
