Hey all, I've been experiencing some less than desirable performance on most of my games.
I mainly play Blizzard games, but other games as well seem to run in the 30-50 FPS range, but under a lot of particle effects/stuff going on, it will dip down to about 10-20 usually (during raids with 20+ people, lots of stuff going on in Diablo etc) I believe I have a system capable of pushing well above 60. I'll list out my specs and see if I didn't buy something silly.
I'm a layman on a lot of PC jargon for the most part, and still learning the finer points of tech. Your help is appreciated. Thank you.
CPU: Intel Core i7 3820, no overclocking. CPU-Z reports 3.6 ghz
GPU: Radeon RX480, 8gb GDDR5
Motherboard: MSI X79A-GD45 (8D) (MS-7760)
RAM: 32GB DDR3, 1600
SSD/HDD: 128gb Kingston (used for a boot drive) and 2tb Toshiba
PSU: Thermaltake 700W
Monitor 1: Dell S2715H (the main monitor I use for games) with an HDMI cable
Monitor 2: Aver S231HL with a DVI cable
After ensuring drivers are solid, AMD isn't running any recording programs in the background, things like v-sync etc. are off, I'm kind of at a loss.
My guesses are my HDD is slowing me down (even though performance issues happen when games are on SSD as well), my PSU is starting to die, or my CPU/motherboard need to be upgraded.
Thank you for your help.
