hey all. so as the title suggests every now and again i get issues with my memory. about a month ago i upgraded my mobo from a msi h110m gaming to a msi z170a tomahawk (not the ac version) and once i installed everything my ram was playing up and my PC would turn on however id get no display. i managed to fix this by installing my ram into the 3rd and 4th slot dunno why this worked but it did. that was it for awhile until i moved my PC from one house to another and i received the same issue. this was resolved by running my PC at the basic components then adding them all back and it worked. finally windows 10 automatically updated then i had the same issue that i had first time around this was then resolved by installing my ram in the 2nd and 4th slot however when i turned my PC on again it soon tuned off and i was back to square one. i installed my ram into the 3rd and 4th slot now it appears to be working fine, could this be caused by dodgy ram modules or a dodgy mobo and would it be worth buying another make of ram??

system specs:

mobo: msi z170a tomahawk
CPU: i5 6600k
RAM: ADATA XPG Z1 ddr4 2400mhz
GPU: evga gtx 1050ti sc

my ram voltage in the bios is around 1.2 volts which is required (apparently) for my ram, i haven't tried boosting it up. could you send me a link to memtest and i'll check it out.

thanks

take the RAM to 1.3, but run memtest first and run it after the voltage bump.

Okay so ice down some testing and I'm increadibly confused I ran memtest and no issues were detected so now I believe it's my motherboard. So my PC played up when ram was in the second and fourth slot, either not posting or crashing shortly after starting up. Sometimes my PC will turn on start up then crash and then the mobo will turn on and show a cpu led issue however it is not my cpu it's the ram not being detected, that I'm Serbian of. I tried different ram sticks from my dads PC and I ran into the exact same issues which drives me towards the issue being mobo related rather than a memory issue. Once the PC crashes I'll play with the memory (moving slots and swapping sticks over) and the PC will seem fine then crash randomly.

I've ordered a new motherboard so I'll try it out and see what happens.
