Hi everyone. I recently got a 4k drone and want to do some video editing. My old rig isn't up to the task. Should I upgrade it or rebuild?

Current system is AMD Phenom II overclocked to 3.6 gHz with the 4th core unlocked, 4 GB DDR3 1333 Mhz Ram and a Nvidia GT 240 1BG Graphics card. I forget what kind of Mobo is in there but i think its an Asus. The power supply is a 650W seasonic i think.

Could i just upgrade the CPU, RAM and GPU on the existing board? or does it not make sense cost wise? Should I just upgrade to a new Mobo, better Ram and new GPU? Trying to keep the cost down.

Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

Too old and obsolete platform. Dont bother with it. Build a new rig at minimum budget. Something like this...

I would suggest a complete new build. Performance would be way faster with a Ryzen and DDR4 system on a new motherboard, for nearly the same cost as upgrading.

any reason for selecting the Ryzen over an Intel? Ive been reading about RAM issues with Ryzen and that it costs more. Would i be better off with an Intel and more/cheaper RAM?

Here's a build I put together but feels like its overkill. What's most critical for video editor build, CPU, RAM or GPU? I would think i could reduce the CPU or GPU in the build below.

Hi everyone. Thanks for helping me out. I ended up purchasing an HP gaming desktop from Walmart. I know I know but it has a gtx 1060 and i5 7400 with 8gb ram and 1 TB 7200 rpm HDD. I paid $400 or it but am anticipating on getting a price match to $200. It's not the greatest but should be good enough to get my feet wet with davinci resolve and worst case I can migrate some of the components to a new mobo and insert into my old case.

Here's the link.
