500GB Hard Drive giving me some issues

Hey there,
I am building a gaming PC and all was going well. I have 1 hard drive for my windows software, another for games. The PC has worked for 2 days straight. Today after doing some cable management, I logged in and found that this drive (that previously had files on it) was not detected.

I re-cabled and eventually the drive was detected, however it was located in disk management not file explorer.

Here's the problem:
The drive was unallocated and it only had 3.86GB. I was told I had to initialise the drive, and after attempting to do so, I was told that "The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error."

Any help would be great. I don't care about losing any files, just as long as the drive can be used again. I'd like to point out that this issue only occurred once I tried to install a steam library onto the drive. Probably a coincidence, but I figured I may as well mention it. Also by the way, all options to for example make a "New Simple Volume" are blanked out.

Thanks!

Oh ok. Already tried on another PC with completely different SATA cable and it picked up there. I did a fake install of Windows to test and the same problems came up.

1. First of all, ALWAYS consider testing the health of the drive when you run into problems with the drive. That should be one of the first diagnostic steps you should take. Capiche? You didn't indicate the make of the HDD. In most cases the drive's manufacturer will have a diagnostic program available. Use it. You want to learn early on whether you're dealing with a defective drive. If so that's that. If the drive tests out OK continue with your troubleshooting.

2. Access an Elevated command prompt and use the command: chkdsk /r e: (use the appropriate drive letter).

OK so:
1: The drive is seagate 500GB
2. The had drive is has no letter because it is unallocated and needs to be initialised (however it can't be for some reason)

And Seagate's SeaTools diagnostic program found the health of the drive OK?
When I suggest an action to take as I did in my response I expect you to take it and tell me the results of the test or why you haven't undertaken the suggested advice. Don't just ignore my advice without telling me why. Capiche?

Genuinely can't tell if you are being comedic or just a twat but either way please stop.

All that's happened is that with all tests beside the S.M.A.R.T and Short Drive Self Tests fail.

Maybe next time don't assume people are ignoring your advice but carrying out the ideas you give.
