Front panel usb 3.0 to usb 2.0

Hi, I have a case that has 2 front panel usb 3.0 ports, inside the case the 2 usb converge into a single 3.0 header, but my motherboard does not have an on board header, If I use a 3.0 to 2.0 converter, will the USB ports work fine? Or do I need a converter that splits into 2 usb 2.0 ports?

the ports will work fine as USB 2.0 ports with the adapter.

USB 3.0 add in cards with a front panel header are relatively cheap as well.

Thanks! I didn't even know those existed, I quickly looked at some and they are on the same price range of a converter, definitely worth getting one
