BIOS killed GPU?

I just updated my bios so I could upgrade from a core i3-6100 to a core i7-7700k. PC boots fine, but only when the GPU isn't installed, but when it is installed I can't get a video output, although the fans still come to life etc. When it is installed, the GPU fan turns on for a few moments before shutting off. I have tried reseating it several times, made sure the power connector is properly in, and run down the full list of "PERFORM THESE STEPS BEFORE POSTING ABOUT NO BOOT". I imagine this has to do with some setting in my BIOS, but I've been looking through the bios and can't find anything to do with switching primary outputs etc...I'm not sure what the next steps I should take are.

System specs:
CPU: Core i7-7700k
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1060 3gb
PSU: 650 EVGA 80+ gold
MOBO: MSI h110 Gaming
BIOS version: 5.50
RAM: Hyper fury x 8gb 2133

Just to reiterate, everything was working fine before I updated the BIOS, and it still works fine now so long as the GPU is not installed. I've tried basic trouble shooting steps, and I'm looking for advice on how to troubleshoot this.

Solution
in the bios make sure the bios set to efi and not legacy. if it is the newer gpu wont post. in the bios set priamny display to peg/pci and turn on muilt monitor support it turn on both gpu. at post the gpu should now come on first. if it was set to auto the ipgpu may be the first video output.

Boot was set to Legacy+UEFI, so I switched that to just UEFI, as well as enabled Multi Monitor, and now it is working. Thank you very much!
