USB fresh install just goes to restart

I'm trying to do a clean USB install on an older Gateway SX2865. It was upgraded from 7 to 10 and is all but frozen except for access to the MB and BIOS. Every time I try to boot from the USB, I get the normal message "Press any key to boot from the USB", it just restarts and back to square one. Any ideas?

Latest BIOS is P11.A4 for UEFI, just FYI if it needs a BIOS patch.

Does the USB build allow you to boot another PC? I mean have you tested it to see if the USB windows installation media created OK by checking it on something else?

Yes the stick and the install work dine on any other machine. Have used it many times.

Unfortunately also, the only way to get to the OS is resetting to default on the MB but even getting there, nothing functions.
