Hi guys, I'm trying to upgrade my rig, I have a gtx970 and I've come up with this options asking around in my hometown, I live in Bolivia so components are a little more expensive here, this is what I've been able to gather:
Cpu: Ryzen 5 1600
Mobo: Asus Ryzen TUF b350m- plus Gaming
RAM: Corsair 8gb ddr4(to be upgraded later on)
All this for us$470

And this is the Intel option:
CPU: i5 7400
Mobo: B250 Asus Strix
RAM: Hyper Fury 8gb ddr4
All this for us$470 (I can get an MSI B250 gaming pro and lower the price to $462)

Thing is I can't decide which rig is better for the buck, I've been hearing great things about the Ryzen but I'm not sure to make the jump, any advices?

I'd go for the Ryzen system. The performance of each system will be similar in today's games. The Ryzen system has a much better CPU upgrade path. In a couple years you can still upgrade the Ryzen system with brand new CPUs, whereas the Intel system will always be limited to a maximum upgrade of an i7-7700k. For me, that's an easy choice as long as the Ryzen motherboard has the features and connectivity that you want - it is a better system for longevity and therefor bang-for-the-buck.

oh, get the Ryzen System. It blows the Intel system out of the water.

Ryzen, 6c/12t vs Intel 4c/4t
Ryzen is overclockable, intel not
7th gen is dead, no upgrade path. Ryzen /AM4 is supported through 2020.
