Hey guys im having a big issue with my ATT internet. I mainly use it for gaming but there will be times of huge ping spikes of 2000+ and then it will go down to 500-1000 and stay there for a long time. I ran a trace route on my 192.168.x.xxx if that will help i can paste it as well.

traceroute to www.google.com (216.58.218.100), 30 hops max, 38 byte packets

Ive turned off all other devices on the network off while this happens and non of it helps. Any other things i can check or what the problem might be? ATT says its not their side and my line is clean and theres nothing wrong, but when this happens i cant even load a web page. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Not sure what you posted. Normally you see the first hop with a private address. The first hop most times is the connection between your PC and the router. This is what a VPN looks like sometimes if you ran it from your pc.

You need to run this from a wired connection so you can tell if it is the wireless or it is a different issue. Stuff like this is very common on wireless and you can do little to fix it.

Most problems with the connection between the house and the ISP is packet loss not delays. Many times when you see delays it is because there is a lot of traffic on the connection.

wirelessly i have 59ms, but its mostly at night time it will jump from 500-3000 and stay like that for a long time. When it works right its awesome. I also have this issue with a wired connection.

Do you see increase ping times to your router inside your house.

Can you see how much traffic is being run at those times. You could have other devices in your house using the internet connection.

If you have good ping times to your router and you have no extra traffic I would call the ISP and have them test.

theres no issue with any other device using the bandwidth and ive had multiple techs say my lines are clean and theres not a problem. but when it acts up i call att and they say they need to send a tech out. The ping from my laptop to router is fine aswell.
