so right now i have 2 router in use, one as AP and another as router, the AP is crap, the router is okayyyyyy. so i think of buy a asus rt ac1200g+. my question is, should i use the asus router as the router or AP? because i can simply use my own router as AP.

Solution
Ok so keep the ISP router where it is and purchase the ASUS to use as an AP or depending on price just buy a proper AP from someone like Ubiquiti, you dont actually require another router if all you are doing is using its wireless capabilities. That way you maintain the gigabit speed through to your ISP and on the LAN side and have AC speed on wireless.
Really this is only a question you can answer. If you are not using any special features in the router then they are likely the same so either can act as the router. The extra features is mostly what makes a difference in routers. Some have filtering, nas support, vpn etc.

both of my router are from my carrier, i tried looking it up but cant really find much info on it, but my first router should be, since the speed im getting from it is ard 800mbps-900mbps wired and around 100mbps on 5ghz, but the one im using as AP(which im also connecting it to one of my pc) is giving less thn 100mbps on both wired and 2.4ghz since its only a single band
