Hello,

My friend is currently having trouble "booting" his display. The PC it self turns on but his monitor doesn't get a signal, he built his PC a couple of days ago. he also says that there is a solid white light on his motherboard.

Specs;
Asus Rog AM4 Mobo
Ryzen 7 1700
G.skill Aegis DDR4 16gb
Asus Gtx 1070 Dual OC 8GB
Corsair CX650M PSU

Why is his display not getting any signal?

Thanks!

There are almost too many possible reasons. Some of them are:

- graphics card not seated correctly
- monitor connected to onboard graphics port instead of discrete graphics
- 6 and/or 8-pin PCI-e connectors not plugged into the graphics card
- BIOS needs resetting and/or updating
- some other component (like RAM) not seated correctly

Well he said that he already downloaded the drivers and windows and played StarCraft 2 and it worked fine at first, but it takes randomly shutdown and now his display won't get a signal, he says it still turns on though.

Tell him to pull out RAM and GPU and then reseat them properly just in case.

If the problem persists, it would be a good idea to try with a different PSU as well (or borrow one just for test - a solid 650W PSU like he has now).

Another idea is to test the GPU separately in a different rig (make sure it has a good PSU) to rule out the graphics card failure.

He claims that only his monitor went black and his rig stayed on, and has already swapped the ram.

So he installed the drivers yesterday and windows 10, he played StarCraft 2 also, but his display just randomly shut down, and ever since then it won't turn back on. So it started yesterday.
