Certified newbie here. I’m planning on building a machine but keeping my old monitor. It is a 9 year old HP Pavillion w2007 Monitor. Works really fine but I wonder if it would work with today’s parts?
Specs Im going to buy:

CPU: Ryzen 5 1400 3.2 GHz Quad core processor
GPU: GeForce Gtx 1060 6 Gb
MEMORY: ADATA XPG Z1 (2x4 gb) DDR4 2800 Memory
Storage: Sea Gate Fire Cuda 2 TB 7200RPM Hybrid Internal Hard Drive
Motherboard: MSI B350M Pro-VDH Micro Atx AM4 Motherboard
Case: MicroAtx Mini Tower
Power Supply: Corsair TXM Gold 550W 80+ Semi-modular ATX Power Supply

This build is from pcpartpicker and is all compatible with each other.

hey,
the GeForece GTX 1060 has : - hdmi port
-VGA analog signal
-DVI-D digital signal

and your monitor has:-VGA analog signal
-DVI-D digital signal

If I'm not mistaken, as long as your monitor and GPU have monitor have 1 of the 3 ports I listed above everything should be fine
