Z370 HD3, is this not a normal ATX??

I am going to buy 8600K with Z370 motherboard today.
I don't OC, don't use SLI, and plan on using 2 x 8gb rams.

It seems HD3 is the cheapest motherboard that basically has every feature I need.
Someone on microcenter website posted that the dimension for HD3 is not normal and wasn't able to screw to his case.
Is this normal or abnormal?

I have raven 2 large case. Should I be worried that I won't be able to find screw holes that fits in my case?
If so, what's the cheapest Z370 motherboard that has normal ATX size for screw holes?

Edit: newegg says HD3 and HD3P are 12.01" x 8.86" wheras other higher end models are 12.0" x 9.6". Do I have to check my case and see if it supports smaller ATX before I buy?

I warn you, if you remove the main 24-pin PSU cable later you may find yourself really flexing the motherboard, or push on one of the edges.

Some of the copper traces are pretty fragile so I'm not sure how much flex the board has. I'd rather have the normal screws going to the edges.

I highly doubt the space saved matters much since it requires an ATX case anyway. I've never, ever since an issue with SATA cables needing more space.

I wonder how HD3 users are mounting it to their cases then.
Should I avoid HD3 and HD3P at all cost?
Shall I go for models that have 12x9.6 standard size?
My raven 2 case says it can have maximum of 12x11 inch sizes so does that mean it can have all sizes smaller than this whether they are normal or not?

There appear to be SIX holes that match. It's possible the top-right and bottom-right were left out due to lack of space on the board (I guess they aren't critical), however the MIDDLE-RIGHT hole doesn't appear to match any case standoff position so I don't know why it's there.

I'd go with a different motherboard that has all NINE mounting holes. Maybe an ASUS board.

Get an ATX motherboard (which should be smaller than 12" x 11"; they may be implying that E-ATX or Extended ATX is not supported) that has NINE holes. Pretty much any ATX motherboard.

ATX is a standard so I don't know what happened with the HD3's hole in the incorrect spot. They can decide to NOT have screw holes but one in the wrong spot?

I agree with everything you said.
But considering that the size of the motherboard is smaller, I assume that 6 screws are enough to hold the board in the case. I have no clue what the extra hole (7th hole) is for either, I will just assume that it's not existent.

I am still interested in HD3 model as it's cheaper and smaller. The reason I like this dimension is because it gives extra room for sata cable.
