I've had my HDD for almost 3 years now and recently its been making some weird sounds while starting up. Don't know how I can back up my entire HDD somewhere, either.

Solution
Nothing lasts forever
we're not talking about game backups though, data is documents and photos and personal video etc..

Everyone has a method, mine is that when my jeep pulls into the driveway, the computers sync their backups to a hard disk in jack storage area. That way if I'm away and the house burns down, I still have my data.

If it's running right now, leave the computer on and running and get your data backed up ASAP. If you have a fast internet connection, even cloud based back up is better than nothing.

download and install the drive manufacturers diagnostic tool and check the drive, regardless of the outcome, not being backed up is always a problem.

Computer isn't on right now as I am at school, and I can't find any good free cloud storage though my internet is pretty good.

Does it last forever? Or will I have to pay eventually and if not all my stuff will be deleted?

That's actually pretty cool, gotta admit.
