If you have really fast net, you could upload to google drive, megaupload, download crystaldiskinfo, and see what it says. But does it make sounds while its work?

If it's running right now, leave the computer on and running and get your data backed up ASAP. If you have a fast internet connection, even cloud based back up is better than nothing.

Nothing lasts forever
we're not talking about game backups though, data is documents and photos and personal video etc..
Everyone has a method, mine is that when my jeep pulls into the driveway, the computers sync their backups to a hard disk in jack storage area. That way if I'm away and the house burns down, I still have my data.
