After I installed new Samsung 850 m.2 250 gb SSD in my laptop I did clean install of Windows 10 and wanted to use old HDD as a plain storage space. OS is booting much faster, however, games that I used to play and are now again installed on HDD are lagging as hell, movies start lagging after few minutes of watching (which are stored on SSD), and I lost brightness control with function button.
I have Asus Rog GL552jd, i7-4720HQ @2.60Ghz, 8gb ram, graphic card Nvidia geforce gtx 950m. I updated all drivers but it didn't help. I've spend whole day reading about similar problems and trying to solve it but without any progress. Any thoughts?

Use Task Manager, Resource Monitor, and Performance Monitor to observe what is going on while gaming and watching movies.

Open one of three tools and slide the window to one side. Watch your system for awhile. Then game or watch a movie as you normally do.

Look for some application, resource or service grabbing system resources.

My overall thought is that that your Windows "clean install" is being updated. The original installation having gone through a variety of updates. Some of which may have improved performance. The new installation is starting over at some earlier point.
