Hi,
I need to get a cooler for 8600K as it doesn't come with CPU.
Which one do you recommend?
Lower temp, less noise would be ideal.
Also, does it come with thermal paste or should I get it separately?
If so, which thermal paste should I get?
I don't plan to overclock but I still want a decent cooler.
Thank you.

the better coolers come with paste pre applied or with some in the box

cryorig h7 is good price/performance

if you dont plan on overclocking get the i5 8400 and use the money saved for a better gpu

Delid that sucker and any $20-30 cooler works as long as fits. I did that with my i5 4670k with the stock cooler and temps stayed around 50-60c while gaming. Before the delid it stayed around 75-80c. I did that with cheap paste too.

I don't know how to delid and it seems too risky.

Both of them are about the same price ($200) so I decided to get 8600K.
Will H7 still be sufficient without deliding?

Never do that unless it's a must to try to push for the highest possible overclock
If it goes bad you just killed your new processor.
The Cryorig H7 fits in most cases and will keep it cool even if you decide to overclock in the future. It comes with good paste so nothing else to buy.
Don't downgrade to the slower 8400 you need to keep the ability to overclock for the future. After a few years when your i5 no longer keep up with the new demands of newer games you jusy OC it up and your performance is back up..
That beats the crap out of having to rebuild again.

I currently have i5-2500K, have used it with stock speed for last 6 yrs.
I don't know if OC 2500K now will help. Probably not, right?
That's how I see it.
Even though I will get 8600K, I don't know when I will feel need of OC. I will probably end up getting a new CPU by then.

The reason I get 8600K over 8400 is because they only got about $20~30 difference at Microcenter now. I also heard that 8600K is faster than 8400.

It sounds like many are recommending H7. I will get H7. Thank you :)
