I would like to get a, more recent answer, With the latest gen or, Next gen coming out of AMD, I have an AMD 1800x and, Would like to push my computer to the limits, By Crossfiring and, getting some better frames, Or, so told. My specs are
GTX 970 SSC
R7 1800x clocked to 3.6ghz
ASRock Pro 4 AB350
G.Skill 16gb clocked to 3400mhz
Kraken x61 Cooler (Which shouldn't matter)
If I need to list anything else, Let me know!

Crossfire (and SLI) are not universally supported. If you want the max performance out your system get a single 1080ti and overclock it. Nothing on the market gives better realworld results. If you are set on an AMD only system, get the vega 64 and again stay with a single card.
If you are going to go SLI, get at least a 1000w high quality, high efficiency PSU for dual vegas.

Bjornl is perfectly correct, you said 'to the limits' that's what it'll take.

Now how about giving us a budget so that we are not playing guessing games, and we'll suggest what's best within that budget. A better single card is always preferred to 2 mediocre cards.
