I am trying to install windows xp on a netbook. The netbook have a 500gb drive and is partitioned with one partition for the os and the other for data backup. The problem is that when I install windows it is making the c drive my data backup and marked as system in disk management. And the other is marked as boot which have the windows files. Is there a method so the boot and system files install on the os partition only? Ps I am installing from a usb.

Solution
The best thing to do is to install xp on another partition regardless of disk letter (will work even if on another letter) then make the change in the registry. It is a bit tricky but the fastest way to do it instead of moving data and re partitioning.

here instruction on how to do it system partition
