I wanna learn to overclock so when I build my new 8700k system I'll be knowledgable in the do's and dont's of overclocking. Does anyone have a decent guide on overclocking for a beginner? Preferably a video. I haven't really found a youtube video so far that really explains it well, they usually make the videos on a specific cpu and nothing else.

My current system has an MSI 970 Gaming MOBO and an FX-8370 CPU.

Videos are lazy, and don't actually TEACH you what you need to know. These guides are a much better way to learn to do it CORRECTLY.

This one is a general OC guide, which can be applied to a variety of platforms once you understand the basic principles. This is about the best guide around.

This guide is specific to Coffee Lake CPUs.

And if you really need a video guide, then this will likely be helpful, but I stress that learning the reasons WHY you need to do particular things and do them IN a particular order, is more important than just watching somebody tell you to "change this or this to this or that" by a long shot.

der8bauer is one of the more competitive overclockers out there, according to some, and if you are going to absorb anything from a video, this is probably the best place to at least start.
