I need some where to store all my pictures and movies and music cause my 9tb in my pc is getting full. Plus i wanna be able to access the files from other pc and devices.

I looked up what you need and it seems to be a enclosure and hard drives put in and plugged into your router. I want to buy a hard drive enclosure and 2 8tb hard drives for now and add 2 later.
I dont think i really need raid or redundancy on it as the info aint all that important.

Is that the right way to go for a media server solution for all my devices ands pc's? i want something thats fast and future proof for my 4k hdr stuff.

Im in Canada and would be willing to spend $1000 max at ncix or newegg.ca or amazon.ca
Wich device should i get thats fast and future proof? also wich drives should i get? it will be on quite a bit also. Any help would be greatly appreciated

In general, routers do not make the great NAS. I would get a four-slot NAS (plenty to choose from in $300-$1000 range), and fill it with drives. That DS418 is a good starting point.

As for RAID: Make sure you have a backup plan for your server / NAS as well (eg think what will happen if your box gets stolen, or gets fire beyond recovery).

You can go with a generic nas or go cheaper and do it yourself.

Get a cheapo pc with enough sata ports for your needs.
Install windows or any other os (freenas,ubuntu,...)
Have your storage.

Not having redundancy is always a bad idea but you do you.
