I recently started looking to overclock my zotac 1050ti which is just powered by the motherboards pcie slot. I know very little about overclocking so I just followed some youtube videos and used msi afterburner. However as I was looking around more people seem to warn about overclocking without an external power connector. Before I knew this I was able to get a +200 core clock and a +850 memory clock stable without changing the voltage and I want to know if I can keep that overclock. Any help would be really appreciated.

My exact card: https://www.amazon.com/ZOTAC-GeForce-DisplayPort-128-bit-ZT-P10510A-10L/dp/B01MCU1ERO

OK but if I was able to get the overclock to the values above without crashing will it damage the motherboard to run the card like that by overdrawing power from the PCIE slot?

You're asking a very good question. MSI afterburner will allow you to increase voltage. I overclocked mine to bump up to 7000 score in 3D Mark11, and I think I hit 6000 in Firestrike. (Optiplex 380 Q9505S).
When you overclock if you increase the clock by 10% the heat goes up by 10%. if you increase voltage by 10% and clock by 10% 1.1X1.1= 1.21 more heat. So the safest bet is don't do it, the next best is take what you get on stock Voltage, and beyond that you're on your own.
The fan will speed up and remove the heat OK, but the extra current that's producing it is still coming from the PCIe slot. I did kill an old Dell by going from a 65W GTX750TI to a 75W GTX1050Ti. No overclock involved. But it had had some capacitors replaced so not a normal situation.
