I live in a large house with a basement. How do I connect desktops without internet cards to my primary router without running 300 feet of Ethernet cables? Ethernet cables are not practical as the primary router is upstairs and the desktops are in the basement.

I use these two desktops in the basement as practice "pc's" to play with. I'm just trying to figure out what I need to connect them to the internet, without a lot of expense.

A single ethernet cable would be the best answer. Using outdoor rated cable and runing it along the outside of the house may be an option. Painted to match it would not be noticeable. Powerline network adapters are probably the next most practical option.
I use a Linksys Wireless Router and Wireless PCI cards (1 Linksys, 1 TP Link) to wirelessly connect the two desktops to the router. The router is on the second floor and the desktops are on the first floor. The signal strength is good and games run without any problems. The distance between the router and the desktops is about 30 feet, and the signal goes through 4 drywalls.

I have not tried Powerline.

Have not tried locating any desktop in the basement.
