I started to have this issue about a month ago. While Im playing CSGO competitive, my computer will sometimes shut down in the middle of the match. Its as if someone suddenly pulled the power cord. At first I figured it could be overheating, but everything is well within safe ranges. I figured maybe the GPU, but I can run GTAV at max settings for 6 hours straight without issue. I can even play csgo in any other game mode and not have an issue, its only during comp. Sometimes it doesnt happen for 4 matches in a row, sometimes twice in the same match. So I ran an event log and saw its a kernel power issue.

A few months ago I had an issue with my computer that seemed to be related to a mobo issue. My computer would be stuck in an infinite loop of startup repair from a corrupted registry. I narrowed it down to a windows update that was causing it. Since I figured that out, I was able to reformat and get everything back up and running without issue as long as i didnt install that update. But now this keeps happening. Im assuming its a mobo issue seeing as general consensus regarding the previous issue, was my mobo was on its way out.

Ive attached a screenshot of the event log, the details of that error, and the thread created which explains the previous issue. Any help would be much appreciated, this is driving me nuts. And Merry Christmas everyone!

Solution
Seems that this is a common prob.I will paste some other solutions i found on net.1.Go into steam, verify the cache for CS go and then it should reset the cache.2.Help & Options --> Video Settings --> Advanced --> Multicore Rendering [Disabled]
Help & Options --> Video Settings --> Advanced --> Paged Pool Memory Available [Low]
Help & Options --> Video Settings --> Advanced --> Global Shadow Quality [Very Low]
Also check your temps.Dont try all of these at once but one by one so you know what the problem was.

Maybe your laptop/desktop is outputting too much power? Which means it turns off to prevent the parts from frying.

To prevent this, maybe setting your power options to "Balanced" or even "Power Saver" if you haven't already. (Only works for laptops). Also, remember if you do have a laptop, make sure it is plugged in all the time.

Try this. Go into the game and set the game to 'default' or 'reset' the games. I know this is gonna sound weird but Steam servers not only remembers your game settings but your crashes, too. Even if you do a clean reinstall, if you use Steam, Steam gladly programs your settings back in the game.. . and the crashes. Make sure you write down your game settings so you can program them back in.
Hope this helps.

Could be, but for the record Ive been using it since 2011 and have never had an issue with it.
Also dont understand how I can run programs and games which require a lot more from the computer and they never cause an issue.

I owned an Ultra once. 2007. It died in 2009. I remember it because it had modular connections that were Molex.
The only way to find out is to take your computer to a shop and have them do a test on your psu. Or, you can go online and buy a tester for about 15 bucks. Try Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/HDE-Power-Supply-Tester-PCI/dp/B005UZHB6G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1515378134&sr=8-1&keywords=psu+tester

When my Utra failed. It first started out 1 time in a month and increased in frequency to weeks, days, hours and minutes. It started getting weaker running games. It would just snap itself off. Then became anytime running anything.
Well, it wasn't just the Utra that failed. That way. I had a Antec 500w, Corsair RM750 that died the same way.
The best ones I've had since were XFX 750w models and a Seasonic 650w (one of which I'm using in work computer). My game computer has a EVGA G2 850w.

By the way, I still use my i7 920 x58 as my work computer. It still chugs along with the changes. Lol.

I feel you. I was thinking about getting a tester but to be honest, it isnt worth it for me. Im going to be building a new computer soon so I figure might as well start with the power supply and ill just throw it in here till i get all the parts.

As for the ultra, I apparently got the best one they made lol. Thinking back on it, I know it had a lot of really good reviews. So out of curiosity, I decided to look up the LSX model I have. Everyone still has good things to say about it including "a very pleasant surprise from Ultra. Possibly one the best components we have ever seen them make."

which is even funnier now that i think about it. While looking in to parts for my new build I was going to go for an Ultra since ive had a very good experience with mine, only to find out you really cant get them anymore. Apparently everything else they make blows and i bought the only good model. :D

That's an interesting one. Gotta check that one out. I know 'fast start' in Windows 10 Power options causes black screens every once in a while. But the programs in the computer would be convoluted to merit running slower. Like an antivirus, antispyware and a driver updater sharing the same startup scan with Windows and Windows defender. Thanks. I'll check it out.
