Which boot loader should I keep and which 1 should I delete?
Hi there -
Just RE-installed a valid version of Window XP Home on thIs Sony VAIO Desktop (Client request).
Have done ALL the updates..... YEA - A L L of them. Phew....!
Computer works PERFECTLY. BUT -
When I start or restart it I see (2) two lines of text as shown below:
Windows XP Home Edition (this line is HIGHLITED)
Windows XP Home Edition
The count-down is running and the computer boots to the desktop in X seconds or sooner by clicking the ENTER key.
If I move the HIGHLIGHT to the 2nd line and press ENTER I get:

"Windows could not sart because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem.
Blah, blah, blah, blan.:

After booting to Windows......

Open "System Properties" / "Advanced" / "Startup and Recovery" / "System Startup"

There are 2 text settings in the "Default operating system" as shown below (shown in order of their appearance in the window)

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)windows="microsoft windows XP Home Edition" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)windows="microsoft windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect /NoExecute=Optin

Questions -
1. Which of those 2 lines of text settings above corresponds to the 1st HIGHLIGHTED line (Windows XP Home Edition) on the login screen?
2. Can I DELETE the line of settings text that does NOT correspond to the line that works to boot the computer?

Thanks for your attention and direction. And hope you have a Happy Christmas.
