WIFI "b", "n", "g" all use the same 2.4 Ghz frequencies. Doesn't matter. The H108L is a DSL modem/router. Are you getting your internet via a DSL liine? Your "far" WIFI usually means you are trying to pickup a public WIFI signal for use at home.

Faster WIFI modes use more complex encoding so the signal could degrade more over distance.

Are you using the H108L to bridge from a WIFI source to a wired connection? If so, a directional WIFI bridge like a Ubiquiti, Engenius or TP-Link would be a better option.

My guess is that there is just SO MANY competing WIFI signals during the day that you have problems.
