Hi everyone, im kind of new to this forum so yeah..

My problem is that I want to play modern 3d games with a good fps, but my current PC is just a garbage. So i thought that maybe i could upgrade my gpu.

My specs are:
Gpu: radeon 4800 hd
Cpu: phenom x2 550
Motherboard: Asus m4a785t-m
PSU: 500W

Not sure what to add more, please ask me if you want to know more.

So my question is what gpu should I buy to play some modern 3d games? Or should I buy a new CPU too? Any help is appreciated.

Solution
If you can't afford to start with a whole new build (or at least a board, RAM, and CPU), I would suggest first getting a GTX 1050 Ti graphics card, then when funds allow see if you can find a Phenom II X4 that is at least 3Ghz. The latter will be found used.

I thought so that someone going to say that, but new PC is going to cost alot of money which i dont really have.

I can still play like Gta 5, CoD etc.. at 20 fps so i thought maybe I can upgrade my gpu? Or not?

Thanks for your fast response tho.

The GTX 1050 Ti will get you by in most single player games. But multiplayer on a busy server will still be handicapped by the slow dual core. That is why I suggested the 3GHz+ quad core should be the next move. This is the CPU support list for your motherboard along with the BIOS update needed for the CPUs to be recognized.
