am unable to overclock my ryzen 3 1200 to 3.9

am currently running it at 3.8 with 1.300 volts then my ram is overclocked at 2667 at 1.35

or did I just get unlucky with the silicon lottery?

also am using the stock cooler with bios updated to 3.30

cpu: ryzen 3 1200
mb: asrock ab350m hdv
ram: 2x4gb corsair vegance lpx 2400

Agreed, there is the silicon lottery so there's no guarantees.

The above link showed 4.0GHz but that's with 1.4V applied which obviously drives up the temperature. They used a stock cooler so it's at least possible.

I'm simply not experienced with Ryzen though note in the above link they suggest an OFFSET be applied instead of a fixed voltage.

It is about 2.5% gain per 100MHz.

@ThatVietGuy 450w psu. When i try 3.9 or 4 the pc just doesnt boot up. I have to reset cmos. I might have lost the lottery. Temp wise been able to use it properly and play games. Temp reaching 60-65.

@photonboy Hmm offset? I could try that and maybe a ram upgrade in the future if it is indeed due to my ram unable to reach higher speeds that might hinder my oc to 3.9-4
