Have read numerous articles and seen many consumer programmes over this last 6-months advising that switching these devices off at the mains when no in use would reduce usage and reduce household bills. I'm all in favour of this for obvious reasons but don't do this as I have always been led to believe that turning off your router each night (or even just periodically when you are away for a few days) means that when you turn it back on it takes a while to sort itself out, and also same for the Sky box.
