Problem with setting higher RAM frequency ( multipliers, BCLK) 1333 to 1866 in F9 bios.

Hello,
I've got a pretty obsolete main board. I just bought dual rams with capable of running at 1866mhz but I can't get it set in bios past 1333mhz ( tho it's said that my MB supports higher frequencies).

My spec:
MB: Gigabyte P55-UD3 ( F9 bios, latest AFAIK)
CPU: Intel i5 750
RAM: black hyperx 2x8gb 1866mhz

So I can't change frequencies of rams directly at all. I can only change memory multiplier ( 6, 8, 10) and BCLK.

If I read the information right, the only way to set the RAMs speed to 1866mhz is to set higher BCLK?
If that's the case what else BCLK affects?
If I set bclk to 186 I will get the right RAM speed, but I am worried about the rest of the system. I don't mind OCing the CPU (in reasonable limits), but I will rather let it at normal.

So if my assumptions are right, my question is if I set my BCLK higher and then lower the CPU Multiplier, will it be okay for the whole system? Or does bclk affects something more?

Or if there is simple another way to just setup RAMs frequency that I don't see :D.

Thx a lot!

Solution
well the motherboard states you can get 1600mhz out of an oc ram, anf the ram can do 1600 so worth a try yes. worst case scenario it wont boot.
the your back to square one.
isn't there a simple Turn XMP on in your bios instead of messing around with voltage and clock ?

EDIT: your motherboards specifications and manual can be found at https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-P55-UD3-rev-10#sp
and it clearly states "Support for Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) memory modules "

but also specifies Support for DDR3 2200/1600/1333/1066/800 MHz memory modules
not 1866 but 1600 would be the maximum you can run that ram

User manual is located at http://download1.gigabyte.us/Files/Manual/mb_manual_ga-p55-ud3_e.pdf
you weill find on page 40

Hi, thanks for the info, but I dont have the XMP option in the bios ( on the page 41 of the manual you provided, there is a screenshot of a bios memory settings - I have every other option except for that XMP on the top ). I believe it's because the RAMs (Kingston HyperX Fury Black 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1866) does not support XMP ? But I'm not sure.

Also the bios in the manual is a bit older version than mine, but that shouldnt be the case.

EDIT: Yes, I double checked my suspicion and there's a note that says that XMP option is only visible if you have pair of RAMs that supports this. And these mine RAMs doesnt' support XMP and have only something called Plug'nPlay. So I can't go this route I fear.

your ram https://www.kingston.com/dataSheets/KHX1866C9D3K2_8G.pdf specs clearly indicates the ram is XMP compatible.,
XMP TIMING PARAMETERS
• JEDEC: DDR3-1333 CL9-9-9 @1.5V
• XMP Profile #1: D3-1866 CL9-11-9 @1.65V
• XMP Profile #2: D3-1600 CL9-9-9 @1.65V

do you use CPUZID ? can you show me your motherboard information please, my bet is you made a typo with the "Gigabyte P55-UD3" you states earlier.

I strongly believe that I have different RAM that you find (the number is little different). Also I have the black ones. So I think I have these ( the number is different as well tho) : https://www.kingston.com/dataSheets/HX318C10FBK2_16.pdf

And from the seller that I bought: https://www.czc.cz/kingston-hyperx-fury-black-16gb-2x8gb-ddr3-1866/150126/produkt
There is another different code :D : HX318C10FBK2/16
Kinda confused with the situation, but I strongly believe that my RAMs do not support XMPs.

best way is turn your pc off, open case, draw out a ram stick copy the model number on paper and tell us.

But if it is indeed the HX318C10FBK2/16 you have then this ram does not support P55 motherboards.

Compatible with H67, P67, Z68, Z77, Z87 and H61 Intel chipsets, as well as A75, A87, A88, A89, A78 and E35 AMD chipsets

lol, Then I was kinda scammed by the seller, because in the info on their sites states: "Plně kompatibilní jsou s moderními čipsety Intel P55, H67, P67, Z68, Z77, Z87 nebo H61, stejně jako AMD A75, A87, A88, A89, A78 nebo E35"

Which translates: "Fully compatible with Intel P55 ..."

Well this brings us to my original question, what if I just raise BCLK a bit ( I dont mind overlocking my CPU a little, I wanted to do it anyway), so the RAMs will have higher speed, but I am not that knowledgeble if the BCLK doesn't <<watch the f-bombs please>> with me in other way than CPU and RAM?

EDIT: Let's say I would raise BCLK from 133 to 160, that should be okay to my CPU and RAMs will be running on 1600hz, which is kinda win-win for me, if I do it properly. Those are my thoughts but will gladly take an advice.
