Thanks to Christmas I now have enough money to upgrade to ryzen, but I do not have enough for my original upgrade path. I can either get an r5 1600 with 16 gigs of ram or an r7 1700 with 8 gigs of ram (both ddr4 3200.) I'm leaning more towards the 1700 because I can just buy more ram once I have the money, but I'm worried about multitasking on only 8 gigs. I enjoy streaming and recording so the 1700 would be better for that, but some of the games I play wouldn't run great with only 8 gigs while I'm doing other things on the system.

Rocket league is the main game I play currently which doesn't need a ton of power to run, but I do enjoy gta 5 and other more intensive games and would like to start streaming those along with rocket league.

Current specs:
fx 8350 black
16 gigs ddr3 1600
gigabyte 970a-ds3 rev 2
rx 580 nitro+ le
corsair cx 500 watt psu
samsung 850 evo 500 gig
seagate 1 terabyte hhd

The 1600 is pretty capable of gaming/streaming/recording/etc with plenty of ease. You dont need a 1700 for that. The 1700 is more of a productivity/content creation chip.
