I am getting money from christmas and i have decided i want to give my pc its much needed upgrade. i feel my cpu is my weakest link and i think i am getting a 1050 ti to improve my graphics . But i am nervously about getting a new cpu due to my mother board being the worst thing in my pc and i believe it will not be compatible with the cpu i want . I already know my that i need a matching socket
(mine is Socket 775 LGA). I thought i only needed to know the socket match that then order the cpu that matches it. I think i am wrong and do not want to waste my money i was thinking of getting a Intel Core i3 6100, S 1151, Skylake, Dual Core, 3.7GHz, 3MB Cache, 1005MHz GPU, 37x Ratio, 47W, CPU. If there is anything i need to tell you about my pc just ask.

btw i have a 300w power supply and the model is a leonite2 with a chip set of i945p/pl/g/gz.

Solution
You need to replace the motherboard, CPU and RAM to do any substantial upgrade. A B250 motherboard, with a G4560 CPU and two 4GB DDR4 DIMMs would be my recommendation. Even that 300W power supply would have to be replaced. It doesn't have the supplemental PCIe plugs for a 1050ti.

The i3 you listed would use the same motherboard as I listed above.

You will not be able to purchase those things for your price range.
Even without a case, OS, or video card I am above £200
