pc turns off after 2 seconds

I bought my son a new PC case for Xmas. After transplanting everything to the new case, the system now won't boot.
It powers up and the fans spin for about 2 seconds, then it turns off. It repeats this process continuously.
I have ruled out the memory, gfx card, PSU as the cause by replacing them with spares.
I have unplugged everything except the power and power switch.

What else could it be?

Solution
ok I went through all my checks again, and discovered it was in fact the PSU.
When I connected up the original PSU from old case I must have forgotten to connect the secondary power cable, thus thought it had the same issue.
It is all working now with a new PSU.
Apart from none of the fans working due to a faulty connector in the new case :-(

If you have not already tried you can reset the bios and see.

It could be that you jarred the cpu cooler a bit and may need to remove and reinstall it (also make sure that it is spinning too with the other fans).

If you run out of possible things to test you could remove the motherboard and try to see if it powers up outside of it (this is to check for a short/ground issue with the motherboard and case). You can short the two power pins with a flathead and hold for 2 seconds if you are unfamiliar.

No, I did not touch the CPU. The mobo was just moved AS IS

do you mean I can just touch the 2 power pins with a screwdriver to power on the system?

Given you moved cases treat this like a new build and try all of these steps http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261145-31-perform-steps-posting-post-boot-video-problems. Most likely something came loose or there's a short with your case.

Well the pins where you connect the case power switch to the mobo, often labeled PW Switch or Power SW. Just don't touch the other pins while doing this. If you can remove the motherboard and keep the power switch hooked up that is fine too. You can also do a search for videos or diagrams on it in case you are unsure and want to know more. Also shorting them a second time will initiate a typical normal shutdown.

ok I just discovered that if I disconnect the SATA devices (disk, cd rom), then it will boot into bios.
As soon as I plug anything into any SATA port, the problem reoccurs. Even if they are not powered

Can you tell me what mobo and what case you have. I am still thinking there may be a grounding issue but with the SATA situation you described it makes me doubt that theory a little but still I would like you to verify whether all of the standoffs were in place on the case.
