Will I need a better cooler for the i7 7700k?

Right now I have an i3 7100 with the stock intel cooler. I just ordered an i7 7700k today along with some mid range price termal compound. Thing is, the i7 doesn't come with a cooler, unless you're buying the normal(not k) edition. So i'm wondering if the stock intel cooler will be able to effectively keep the cpu at a stable temperature, preferably under like 60 C.

Umm......could you explain a bit more? The title of the thread is "Will I need a better cooler for the i7 7700k?" but i ended the description with another question "if the stock intel cooler will be able to effectively keep the cpu at a stable temperature".....

so i'd like to know which question are you answering to ?

The stock cooler that comes with the 7100 has zero chance of cooling the 7700K well. I don't know how well it will even handle it at stock. My guess is poorly. The minimum cooler I would get would be the 212 or equivalent. Better is highly recommended.

The "no" was the answer to the last question.
In some conditions, stock cooler can keep the non overclocked I7 CPU in safe range, but way higher than 60C.
You need at least 40$ cooler like Scythe Fuma or Be Quiet Shadow Rock 2.
If you after serious overclocking a beefier cooler would be required.
