Im planning on building my first pc, mostly for Gaming uses.. i don´t know what CPU to choose from, these are my options..

MSI B350M Gaming Pro Motherboard:

AMD Ryzen 1500x
AMD Ryzen 1600
AMD Ryzen 1600x

MSI B250M Gaming Pro Motherboard:

Intel Core i5-7600K

MSI Z370 Gaming Plus Motherboard:

Intel Core i5-8600k (the motherboards for this type of CPU are expensive)

What you recommend me to do in this case, what are your opinion on the Ryzen CPU on comparison with the i5

(Wish i can buy the Intel Core i7-7700K but is too expensive..)

Solution
ALL Ryzen can be overclocked, grab the AMD Ryzen 1600 over the 1600X since you can just do a simple overclock and get the same performance. To save a little more $ a Ryzen 5 1400 overclocked would allow some cash to be put somewhere " Like RAM" since you have to replace that too with either Intel or AMD current upgrades.

True, but Ryzen can be oc’ed. The one you mentioned doesn’t have the k, and with the k would just make the Ryzen an overall better deal monetarily...Assuming this is being compared to 1600 (non x)

The 8400 beats an overclocked Ryzen for gaming and Ryzen doesn't overclock that far and its single core performance is a fair way behind 8th gen Intel. Factor in Ryzen needs higher frequency RAM (more expensive) to really reach its potential when Intel shows minimal gains over 2400.

It really depends one what level these CPU's are being used on. 1080p 60hz 60fps.. Ryzen fairs very well for the price if you want better.. well you pay more.Does a 8400 beat Ryzen yeah as expected a near $300 CPU vs one around $100 less but the thing is... they are actually pretty close, enough to consider the flip on a budget.

Ram timing.. 3000mhz is the sweet spot for both Ryzen and Intel as moving from 2133mhz to 2666mhz gives you the largest gain moving past that gives you less of a gain but on both sides moving from 2133mhz to 3000mhz gives you close to a 20fps performance increase or more. If you also watch RAM sales as often as I do you will find 3000mhz kits are quite often the same price as 2400mhz kits so why pay the same for less?

Frankly $200 CPU vs $300 CPU and results averaging less than 10% o.0 that's $100 more that could go to something else but to each is his own Intel like it has for the last 10 years will offer you the max Fps for also the max price. If I was looking for 1440p to 4K I would be looking past Ryzen and a I7 + 1080 GTX as a minimum but for 1080p lets be realistic Ryzen offers a good value not the absolute best you can get but something that is very good regardless especially when your figuring in the added cost of those Intel MB. If you doubt anything I have said here look at the sales in the last 3 months that alone should tell you where the best value is.

I personally have an i5-8600K and it runs beautifully.
Like someone mentioned above Intel has an fps advantage from my experience, I also prefer Intel because in the past i have had bad experiences with AMD. (I know this sounds a bit biased but i have nothing against AMD they are perfectly fine but its a personal preference type thing with me :) ) .

As far as mobo's go here is a fairly budget mobo for the 8th gen Intel processors.

Frankly I would be pissed if a $300 CPU performed poorly wouldn't you? This is out of most peoples budget range which is why the Sales on Ryzen chips have been X2, X3 and even X4 times as many as i3 8100 and up.

A i5 8400 $199 compared to Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.9ghz $199 is so close now with Bios revisions and better API support that its hard to say which is better or not. The same can be said with Ryzen 1300X $129 and i3 8100 $129 and for that matter a Ryzen 3 1200 overclocked @ $109.

I5 8400 + 3000mhz RAM + MB= $416+
Ryzen 1600 + 3000mhz Same RAM + MB= $371 + or -

$45 or more savings with virtually the same performance. AM4 is good until 2020 LGA1151 is not this is also a factor for those on a budget the high end Intel chips historically do not drop much but you have a good range of AMD chips that are cheaper now and will drop when they next batch is released in 2019.
