Intel Quad Core Q6600 keeps shutting down PC!!!

i recently upgraded from a core 2 duo E7500 to a core 2 quad processor Q6600 ...but my PC keeps shutting off after 40 seconds(windows loading screen) every time i switch it on..my fan has a copper heat-sink same one i used for the core 2 duo and all only the thermal paste is missing...can that be the cause ?

Do you know that your motherboard supports a Q6600 ? The E7500 is a 65W CPU and the Q6600 is a 105W. You need to verify compatibility with your motherboard. The manufacturer of the motherboard publishes lists of compatible CPUs.
