Hi everyone

I got 4x2gb ddr3.
I want to get two more sticks of 4gb ddr3. Can I get just any 2x4 DDR3 ram, or do I have to get same exact speed as my current ram? Or am I really limited and I have to get exact model?
I have 32gb with 4 slots so mobo is compatible.

Thanks

Solution
Really limited and even the exact model may not work.
If you want 4 RAM sticks, you should buy 4 RAM sticks at the same time.

Don't try mixing 2GB DDR3 and 4GB DDR3.
When I mixed 2 different sizes of RAM, I fried my motherboard.
Your motherboard may be different, but is it worth the risk?

Nothing is stopping you from adding extra memory. No one will guarantee what you want to do will work.

Memory manufacturers guarantee memory in the form it is sold in and not by using identical modules or other combinations you make. Modules sold as singles are not intended to be combined.
