PPTP VPN Vulnerabilities

I'm going to be getting a VPN connection in a few days. I want to be able to use it with my PlayStation 4. It appears the only way to do this is through Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP). Apparently this method of connecting is considered unsafe due to security vulnerabilities. Can someone explain why? Is it still safer than not using a VPN altogether? Will my ISP still be able to monitor/see that I am playing on a PlayStation 4 when using PPTP? Thanks for your assistance.

I'm worried about my ISP charging me more because of the end of net neutrality.

You should probably wait and see the implications and how it is implemented before going ahead and ruining the experience. Also, if the result is such do you not think that a vpn is in the crosshairs too? If it was going to be that simple to avoid their restrictions everyone would sign up to a vpn!

My thinking was that I should go ahead and get it before they potentially put the policies in place. If we wait until they start charging more then get the VPN they will for sure know we are doing it to prevent playing higher prices. Also, I like the fact that is it more secure than a normal connection.

Your call but you'll be paying for a service to avoid potentially yet unknown policies.
