no. i believe a z97 board is hashwell and it doesnt support quad only dual. i mean you can stick 4x4 stick there but you wont get the quad channel bandwidth benefits. stick with the 2x memory kits imo. but if youre going for virtualization with vmware or got graphic rendering apps and dont care about clock speeds, you can fill up your ram size as much as you want.
this is stated in the specs for your MOBO..
"4 x DIMM, Max. 32GB, DDR3 3200(O.C.)/3100(O.C.)/3000(O.C.)/2933(O.C.)/2800(O.C.)/2666(O.C.)/2500(O.C.)/2400(O.C.)/2200(O.C.)/2133(O.C.)/2000(O.C.)/1866(O.C.)/1600/1333 MHz Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory
Dual Channel Memory Architecture "
so be sure to get a ddr3 one. if you do plan on mixing different types of ram and u dont care about the dual channel benefits then. just be sure get all of them in the same freq like 2666/2400. coz your system will clock down to your lowest performing ram stick for all thats in your slots.
