I have been struggling with this problem for months...

I bought a new PC with the following specs:

CPU: i7-6700
RAM: DDR4 16 GB 2400 MHz (2x8)
GPU: GTX 1080 MSI ARMOR
PSU: ZALMAN 1250 Watt 80 Platinum
MB: Gigabyte B150 HD3
BenQ GSYNC 24" monitor

The PC worked fine for some time then it started restarting at random. I noticed there's consistent rebooting when I quit a game and then open a browser, but it also reboots at other times (while gaming, while browsing... etc). One reboot sometimes results in a cycle where the PC doesn't get past the Windows loading screen and reboots again. Reboots also are not instantaneous, but the PC lights go out for a second or so and then it boots up again. This problem doesn't happen when I remove the GPU and use the integrated graphics.

I tried many solutions without success. I sent the PSU to be checked by warranty and they reported no issues, I tried switching G-Sync off, reducing refresh rate, wiping and reinstalling graphics driver, I even changed the electrical connections in my room! I made sure that all temperatures are within safe range using open hardware monitor.

I would appreciate any insight into this problem as I have been struggling with it for so long without success...

If you are sure that the GPU could be causing this, i would just send it back and get a new one if it's under warranty. before further damage is done. usually i wouldn't think that a faulty gpu could even work in the first place, but if you say that when the gpu isnt plugged in the pc works fine, i would say there is something wrong with the gpu itself, other than replacing it there isn't much you can do besides maybe checking if the ram is working fine, by running the pc with one ram stick at a time, just to be sure (in my experience ram is the most common thing to be defective even if brand new).

I ran memtest86 and it passed multiple times without errors. Can a defective memory do this?
Also is there a way to verify that the problem is with the GPU? It would be difficult for me to return it as it was shipped overseas from Amazon.
