First answering the laptop buying question...
1. $750.
2. Less than 17”
3. Would prefer 1920x1080
4. Portable
5. Reasonable Battery. Does not need to last 10+ hours.
6. I will be gaming, but for the most part low demanding/older games on the go. I have a 1070 Desktop and an Xbox. Not looking to spend more for a gaming laptop.
7. Stocks and Research. General browsing/emailing. Also Movies/Netflix occasionally.
8. NO HDD. I want an SSD. If I need more space, I will upgrade.
9. I would rather buy from a reputable site. Check Newegg a lot.
10. Willing to buy a cheap laptop to get the job done for a couple years. If I’m spending $500+, I want it to last a while.
11. No Optical Drive necessary
12. No prefernace in brands. But new with a warranty.
13. United States

I’ve been checking out Newegg’s recent after Christmas sale. Came across a couple reasonably priced laptops.

1. Lenovo Laptop IdeaPad 320 80XL03BQUS Intel Core i7 7th Gen 7500U (2.70 GHz) 12 GB DDR4 Memory 256 GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce 940MX 15.6" Windows 10 Home 64-Bit...has a 1080p TN screen for $670

2. Acer Swift 3 SF314-52G-55WQ 14.0" Intel Core i5 8th Gen 8250U (1.60 GHz) NVIDIA GeForce MX150 8 GB LPDDR3 Memory 256 GB SSD Windows 10 Home 64-Bit Laptop... 1080p IPS screen for $680

There’s a few other good deals on there as well. Such as a cheaper i5 8th gen, but no SSD or dedicated graphics card(not a deal breaker but certainly a plus)

Solution
Of the two, I'd choose the Acer, hands down (based on specs alone). Better CPU, better GPU, better display, backlit keyboard. And as stated earlier, the 8GB of RAM should be plenty. The only negative I see is the smaller display size, and you can't tell if one has a better build quality than the other. But for only 10 bucks more, I'd take the Acer.

Thanks for letting me know the links did not work.

The Lenovo seems to lack in screen quality, and has a “worse” processor. Though i7 7th Gen should be more than good enough. While the Acer Swift has the better screen and processor, but only 8gb LPDDR3 vs 12gb DDR4 for the Lenovo. Not sure what to make of the GPUs, but I think it’s safe to say they are better than the intel 620 integrated cards I often see on newer laptops.

More than welcome to show me a better deal/laptop. I have not owned a laptop for quite a few years (almost 10) so not exactly sure which brands to trust or what exactly to look for.
