MSI Z270 A Pro Bios issue

My bios acts kinda screwy as in when I click on settings on the left side, various UIs overlap each other. I can link a pic. Also, you can see how 2 languages mesh together also making it hard to navigate. The default bios did this, and also the next 2 flashed updates as well. Any ideas?

What is the resolution of your monitor while in the BIOS? It looks lower than it needs to be in UEFI. Is the monitor connected to the motherboard or a discrete GPU?

The screen is fine when I load into the bios. It just overlaps after I click settings and also freezes depending on which setting within I click.
I am using a tv that is connected via HDMI through the vid card.

Ok yes, with a monitor, the bios works as it should.
Any ideas as to how to get it to work with the TV??

It depends on the TV. It may not be full HD or it doesn't report its resolution correctly. UEFI requires 1280x1024.

Well, it's a 60 inch plasma. It is a 1080P full HD tv.

Then it does't report its resolution correctly; that may be normal for an older TV. I just performed a Google search and it found many similar issues when using a TV as a monitor.

Would there be a way to see what it's res actually is? And what should the res be for the bios?

Your resolution may only be 800x600. If your system is in UEFI mode, is CSM (Compatility Support Module) enabled or disabled?

Since this is an MSI board, Windows 8.1/10 WHQL Support is enabled as CSM is ASUS apparently.
I also tried the max res which is 2560x1440 with no luck. Normally use 1900x1080.

There isn't much that you can do other than trying a different GPU, e.g., AMD instead of NVidia. Since you normally don't need to access the BIOS on a regular basis, do you check if the issue occurs when you conect the TV to the motherboard?

I would need to find a hdmi to dvi adapter. Think I have one here somewhere.

Ok, wanted to update this. Just got a new tv, 65 inch 4K UHD LED curved.
When I load the bios, the tv flashes 720P@60hz on the upper right side.
So I must assume the res needs to be higher for it to load right but how do I change what res it loads at for bios?

You may be able to configure the TV to use a higher resolution on the port to which the PC is connected.

You'll have to read the manual; I can't help since I have no clue what TV you got. UEFI works fine when using a real monitor because the GPU can read its native resolution; your TV has to do the same when used as a monitor. If it doesn't report it's native resolution, then 720p is used to play it safe. On a Samsung TV, setting the port name to PC apparently does the trick.

You never mentioned before that you use a TV that doesn't support the native UEFI 1280 x 1024 resolution. Have you tried using a DVI to HDMI adapter? That may resolve your issue.

Something else is off. Under display settings in windows, it tells me 720x480 is recommended?? That can't be right as it's the worst res.

Not sure on the HDMI cables. The TV has a VGA port though.

The VGA port may work for the BIOS, but the image quality will be poor once Windows is loaded.
