Hello

my current rig is working flawlessly:
Asus P5E3
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300
4x2GB 1333 corsair RAM
HD 7850 DCUII
SSD Samsung 840 Evo (250GB) Win 7 Ult x64 clean install
latest BIOS, AHCI Mode

So I decided to replace my SSD with a new one (Kingston A400 (120GB)).
Reason is I need the Samsung SSD In my laptop. So I tried to install win 7 on the Kingston SSD but I received an error 0X80070057 right when clicking next on the selected disk. I took the SSD to a friend's system (which is newer, and has an UEFI bios) and I was able to format it and install windows. So I believe it has something to do with my motherboard.
Things I have tried:
format after creating a new volume in the windows installer menu. This format also failed resulting the same error 0X80070057.
enter diskpart
and use clean: I/O error and disk disappears from the list until restart
and convert to mbr: conversion succeeded but still unable to format
I also tried to format through disk management which also failed.

I already tried another PC with UEFI BIOS and it installed windows on the SSD with no problems.
Tried also different sata cables. So from the time I started this thread we have some improvement. Key was converting the disk to MBR and restarting afterwards. Now this new error 0x8007045D. could have something to do with my USB but i tried another port still no luck.

How did you put windows on that flash drive?? If you used a flash drive?

If you used rufus and selected GPT in it before you added the ISO

You'll have to run it again and select MBR for your system. Since selecting GPT in rufus, it'll install on your friends PC since it has a UEFI BIOS.

It wont install on yours, because it doesnt support GPT

I contacted Kingston Support... Apparently my motherboard chipset does not support Kingston SSDs... They advised me to check if I have the newest chipset and sata port drivers installed.. Any ideas on how to update drivers with no OS installed? here is the answer from the support team:
Please note that the ASUS/ASmobileASUS P5E3 is not currently supported with Kingston SSDs.

The SA400S37/120G might be able to work but we cannot guarantee that it will perform properly on your system.

This can be due to a variety of reasons such as:

- The motherboard/chipset being too old to use the newest technology

- Incompatibility issue between Kingston SSD controller and the SATA Host controller of the System
Troubleshooting that you can try.
Ensure the latest BIOS,Chipset and SATA drivers are installed.
When you initialise the SSD ensure to initialase the boot bartition by using MBR instead of GPT.

Please note the above are only suggestions and we cannot guarantee that the SSD will perform properly on your system.
