2 Kits of dual channel ram won't work

So originally in my PC I had 2 sticks of 8gb corsair vengeance and it was working just fine. But recently I got 2 4gb sticks of gskill's ripjaws, and when I have them both in at the same time, the computer boots, but will not post.
Motherboard is:
AMD B85M-E45

Yep, mixing RAM, even with all specs. and brand name identical there is not any guarantee that the PC will work. The only way to KNOW they will be compatible is to buy a kit and possibly sell the old.
