Hi, guys, as I was planning for my pc build, I wanted to know what must I do before and after buying a router. My pc will be for gaming and professional work.
Before buying a router ... Verify that your ISP won't give you a router as part of their service. If you believe you MUST have your choice of router, then ask the ISP if a modem ONLY is an option or if their router can be put in "bridge mode". Make sure you understand what your ISP requires from your router if you are not just a DHCP connection.
After buying a router ... set the admin password. Set the SSID. Set the encryption to WPA2. Set the WIFI password to a strong password. Disable WPS. Disable admin via WIFI and WAN (if possible). Connect as many devices as possible via wired ethernet -- especially streaming devices like TVs.
